Consulting examples

Over five years at Deloitte, I developed and  honed a number of business consulting skills.

I worked with a number of  different clients, across sectors. Example clients and projects are included here:

BRAND: Sainsbury's is the second largest chain of supermarkets in the UK

 

MY ROLE: Senior Consultant -

Business Case Project Lead

CHALLENGE: Determine which retail innovations to prioritise and asses ROI

METHOD: Led the development of a Business Case project that quantified the benefit of innovations on the business

OUTCOME: Presented business case and findings to the Head of Loyalty, who was subsequently given a budget for implementation

Sainsbury's

BRAND: Veeip is a start-up with a digital loyalty proposition

 

MY ROLE: Senior Consultant -

Business Case Project Lead

CHALLENGE: Evaluate the viability of the start-up's business proposition and develop a prototype

 

METHOD: Assessed the value of their loyalty proposition, designed a model to demonstrate ROI to retail partners, researched competitive landscape and market positioning and managed the development of a prototype app to bring the concept to life

OUTCOME: Supported the start-up to realise initial capital funding

Veeip

BRAND: The British Broadcasting Corporation is the world's largest broadcaster, headquartered in London

 

MY ROLE: Project Consultant -

Reporting to Project Manager

CHALLENGE: Help the BBC improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Creative Services

METHOD: Worked with the Head of Creative Services to review the current commercial model in place with external agencies, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses. Researched trends that would impact the BBC’s future advertising requirements.

OUTCOME: Our findings were implemented

BRAND: Honda is one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world

 

MY ROLE: Project Consultant -

reporting to Project Director

CHALLENGE: Improve the efficiency of the marketing function across Europe

METHOD: Led a review of their European marketing operations to identify opportunity areas for centralisation and process improvement

OUTCOME: Presented proposal to the Heads of Car Sales and Marketing

Honda

BRAND: BT is a multinational telecommunications company headquartered in London

 

MY ROLE: Project Consultant -

reporting to Project Director

CHALLENGE: Evaluate BT's online B2B proposition when compared against competitors AT&T and Verizon

METHOD: Developed a framework for rating online B2B capabilities, and analysed qual & quant data to produce recommendations

OUTCOME: Produced a report and a prioritisation matrix for enhancing weak capabilities

BT

BRAND: LBG is a British retail and commercial bank with branches across the UK

 

MY ROLE: Project Consultant -

reporting to Project Director

CHALLENGE: Help LBG determine how to deliver key services to commercial customers after HBOS and Lloyds systems are merged

METHOD: Used interviews and doc reviews to understand current processes of both banks. Designed new processes for 'merged' state and work arounds

OUTCOME: Presented target process designs to Head of Commercial Banking who hired us to implement them

Lloyds

BRAND: HMRC is a non-ministerial department of the UK Government

 

MY ROLE: Project Analyst -

reporting to Project Director

CHALLENGE: Change staff culture and behaviours with regard to IT security

METHOD: Used qual & quant to understand what specific behaviours were putting security at risk. Proposed tactics to change behaviours and track progess  

OUTCOME: Presented recommendations to Programme Board, who implemented them
